Japanese Industrial Safety and Health Law

Japan's Industrial Safety and Health Law and related regulations were enacted in 1972 and prescribe detailed safety and health measures to be taken by employers. The government has also made announcement of detailed guidelines for employers to implement measures in compliance with the Industrial Safety and Health Law and Regulations. According to the Guidelines for the Necessary Measures to Prevent Health Impairments to Workers Due to Chemical Substances, Etc. (2000), "...any party who is an Employer, and who transfers or otherwise provides Items Subject to Notification, is to have a person who is properly qualified with the required knowledge to prepare safety data sheets for Chemical Substances..."
