(krou´zә) a retinal and cerebral dysplasia found in premature infants several months after birth, characterized by malformations of the choroid, retina, and optic nerve, and possible blindness, cataract, coloboma, glaucoma, and microphthalmos. Cerebral symptoms include aplasia, hyperplasia, and hypertrophy of the brain, hydrocephaly, microcephaly, and mental retardation. Called also encephalo-ophthalmic dysplasia.
