A rare disorder characterized by the development of fibrous tissue that can occur in various parts of the body such as the retroperitoneum, mediastinum, eye area, bile ducts and thyroid gland. The severity and range of involvement is variable. There is no obvious cause for the condition. See also Multifocal fibrosclerosis
