Myoclonic astatic epilepsy

a petit mal variant characterized by atonic (drop attacks) and tonic or tonic-clonic attacks in neurologically disabled e.g., hemiplegic, ataxic children with mental retardation; characterized in EEG by 2-second spike and wave discharges; usually progresses in spite of medication.
