How Chemwatch's Substance Volume Tracking (SVT) Tool Facilitates Compliance with India's New Mandatory Data Reporting Regulations
28/03/2024
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, NOW mandates the collection of statistics of chemicals and petrochemicals, covering various aspects such as production, installed capacity, export, import, sales, and related data. This collection will be conducted exclusively through the ChemIndia Web portal (https://chemindia.chemicals.gov.in/) on both an annual and monthly basis, aiming to establish a comprehensive Inventory of Chemicals in India.
Chemwatch can help your company meet these new obligations as our automated Substance Volume Tracking Solution (SVT) provides a two-step process that seamlessly delivers accurate reporting. We can integrate your material management transactions from your ERP with the ChemIndia Web portal, with global rules and regulations then layered on top of the SVT module.
Benefits of ChemIndia Portal
The ChemIndia Web portal facilitates real-time data collection, compilation, and analysis from registered chemical and petrochemical industries. The statistics gathered are crucial for compiling the monthly Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and will be provided to the Office of the Economic Statistics Division, National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Additionally, the data will be used for preparing the annual publication "Chemical and Petrochemical Statistics at a Glance" and for analysis and monitoring purposes, aiding parliamentary affairs committees, annual reports, policymakers, and researchers in formulating policies to promote best practices and foster optimal industrial development. Data submission must adhere to the details outlined in the schedule.
Even if you don't have an Indian sales entity, you should expect to start receiving requests for full formulation information from your Indian customers so that they can meet their new obligations as reporting entities are required to submit data on various aspects of chemicals and petrochemicals, including production, installed capacity, export, import, sales, and other relevant data, through the ChemIndia Web portal.
Indian entities would have to specifically provide the information for each calendar month by no later than the tenth day of the subsequent calendar month on:
Total production of chemicals (monthly/annually)
Export details of Chemical/Petrochemical
Import details of Chemical/Petrochemical Chemical Category
Description of the Chemicals & Petrochemicals
List of main constituents of the Substance/mixture/article with 10% (w/w) or more concentration
Classification & Labelling Information (According to 9th Rev. of GHS)
Installed Capacity of Chemicals/Petrochemicals
Sales/Purchase of Chemical/Petrochemical
