Parathion is an insecticide with the molecular formula C10H14NO5PS.[1] At room temperature, parathion is a yellow-to-brown liquid with an odour of garlic. It is often dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent before use. Parathion itself is not volatile. It is almost insoluble in water, slightly soluble in petroleum oils, and miscible with many organic solvents. [2]
