Sodium fluoroacetate, known in pesticide form as 1080, is the
organofluorine chemical compound with the formula FCH2CO2Na. [1] It
is a naturally occurring poison found in plants in Australia, South Africa
and Brazil. [2] Sodium fluoroacetate is a sodium salt of fluoroacetic acid
which is a tan coloured alkaline powder with a pH of 10.3. It melts at 197-
