Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (Research and Development)

Salary - $80,000 to $85,000

Over the last almost 35 years.Chemwatch has become a global leader in providing chemicals management solutions, providing management software and training for the management of chemicals. The position Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (Research and Development) will be working in Ucorp Pty Ltd trading as Chemwatch and/or our subsidiary company.

The duties and responsibilities are as below:

OHS Strategy Development and Implementation

Develop, implement, and review occupational safety and environmental health management strategies tailored to the transportation and handling of dangerous goods.

Ensure the integration of OHS protocols within the developed software to effectively minimize workplace and environmental pollution risks, with a particular focus on chemical hazards.

Advise on the development of industrial hygiene software to monitor hazardous substances in the workplace, reducing worker exposure and contamination.

Collaboration on Software Design and Integration

Collaborate with the software development team to design, implement, and enhance features for managing chemicals, ensuring alignment with OHS regulations and best practices.

Advise on integrating chemical safety features such as risk assessment tools, compliance tracking, and reporting functionalities to meet OHS standards.

Work with the development team to ensure that the chemical management platform includes features that streamline the management of chemical hazards, safety data sheets, and hazard communication.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

Advise on compliance with national and international regulations related to hazardous substances, waste management, and pollution minimization.

Monitor and assess regulatory changes in WHS standards to ensure that the platform reflects updated compliance requirements.

Ensure that the software supports compliance tracking and regulatory reporting to help manage risks and improve health outcomes.

Training and Support

Develop and deliver training materials for clients on effective use of the chemical management software, ensuring they understand how to maintain safety and compliance in the workplace.

Provide ongoing support and guidance to users on how to navigate the software, especially regarding risk management, chemical handling, and regulatory compliance.

Offer expertise on safe working procedures and legislative compliance in the areas of hazardous substance handling, pollution reduction, and waste management.

Environmental Product Declarations and Health Outcomes

Develop Environmental Product Declarations to inform stakeholders on chemical safety, environmental impact, and regulatory compliance.

Collaborate with the software team to ensure that features for tracking and managing environmental health outcomes are integrated into the platform.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration

Research and analyze international and national regulations concerning the transportation of dangerous goods, ensuring the software's features align with evolving industry standards.

Advise on strategies to improve the transport of dangerous goods safely and economically, utilizing software features to enhance safety protocols and compliance.

Collaborate with internal teams, including legal and product development, and external regulatory bodies to ensure all software features comply with the latest OHS regulations.

Stay abreast of emerging trends in both OHS and software development, continuously learning about new technologies that can improve safety and compliance management.

Qualification/Skill/ Experience Required:

1. Bachelor degree or above in OHS, Science or a related field

2. At least three years experience in a similar role obtained in a medium to

large size organization, preferably with experience in chemistry and/or Software industry

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

5. Strong clients relationship management

6. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel,PowerPoint and Outlook, Google Docs)

7. Attention to detail

8. Organised and able to meet deadlines
