Builders read and compare HPDs when deciding which products to install in a building. These HPDs typically list the health burden of each substance in a product; however, these documents are complicated to read or interpret. They give no indication of the risks to the tenants occupying a building or the builders or constructors working to install the product onsite. Furthermore, these HPDs do not indicate whether the material can be recycled at the end of its life due to factors like surface treatment.
