Acetic Acid (C2H4O2)

is a carbonyl compound that is emitted into the troposphere by both natural and anthropogenic processes. In the troposphere, acetic acid is present in the gas phase and is highly water soluble. Since acetic acid is highly water soluble, it is found in high concentration as acidic precipitation, such as in fog water and cloud droplets in urban areas.
