Achalasia of cricopharyngeal sphincter syndrome (medical condition)

The failure of a muscle at the top of the esophagus to relax and allow food and liquid to pass through. Liquid and even food may accidentally be inhaled and can lead to pneumonia and death in some cases. See also Asherson syndrome
