DF: A species of Orbivirus that causes disease inhorses, mules, and donkeys. It is transmitted byblood-sucking insects - usually biting midges. Although the virus is present in urine, milk andother body secretions of infected animals, notransmission of disease by contact with, breathingin, or eating these materials is known.
