Avellis paralysis

Avellis syndrome (ah-vel´is) a syndrome in which a brain stem lesion limits innervation by the vagus nerve unilaterally, causing paralysis of the vocal cord and soft palate on one side with loss of pain and temperature sensibility on the other side in the upper and lower limbs, neck, trunk, and skin over the scalp.
