Carbamide

As a natural compound and the chief solid component of mammalian urine, Carbamide (urea) is formed in the liver from ammonia by amino acid deamination as the principal end product of protein catabolism. Synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide, it is used as fertilizer, in animal feed, and in plastics. Intra-amniotic injection of urea is given to cause abortion. (NCI04)
