Eosin-methylene blue agar

agar composed of peptone, lactose, and sucrose and containing eosin and methylene blue, used to select for and distinguish between lactose-fermenting and nonlactose-fermenting gram-negative bacteria. Echerichia sp. show a characteristic sheen. SYN: EMB agar.
