Ficolin

A protein that structurally resembles mannose-binding lectin (MBL). The polypeptide chains have a N-terminal region, a collagenlike domain, and a globular region, which is fibrinogenlike. Although H-ficolin and L-ficolin are plasma proteins generated in the liver, M-ficolin is produced by monocytes, and is membrane bound. H- and L-ficolin can form oligomers and are capable of activating complement. M-ficolin may act as a phagocytic receptor on circulating monocytes for glycosylated proteins.L-ficolin, H-ficolin.
