Hereditary elliptocytosis (medical condition)

An inherited blood disorder where a significant number of red blood cells (erythrocytes) are elliptical or oval shaped rather than doughnut shaped. The condition is often asymptomatic but anemia can result when the abnormal red blood cells are destroyed. See also Hereditary elliptocytosis
