Heterophyiasis (medical condition)

Infection with a type of intestinal fluke (Heterophyes heterophyes). Infection usually occurs through eating raw or undercooked contaminated freshwater fish. The adult fluke attaches itself to the intestinal wall and causes ulcers which may be asymptomatic unless there is an extensive infestation. See also Heterophyiasis
