[TA] third section of duodenum inferior to head of pancreas that lies between the superior mesenteric vessels anteriorly and the aorta and inferior vena cava posteriorly. SYN: pars horizontalis duodeni [TA], horizontal part of duodenum*, pars inferior duodeni*, third part of duodenum.
