[TA] one of the lateral openings to the vertebral canal giving passage to the spinal nerves and vessels; bounded by the pedicles of adjacent vertebrae superiorly and inferiorly, the vertebral body (mostly of the superior vertebra) and intervertebral disc anteriorly, and the articular processes forming the zygapophysial joint posteriorly.
