L cells

cells from a strain (C3H) of mouse fibroblasts grown in tissue culture for many years; employed for their ability to support replication of many types of viruses. a type of argyrophilic cells with large cytoplasmic granules in the mucosa of the upper intestine; their ultrastructure resembles that of the alpha cells of the islets of Langerhans, and they secrete glicentin and glucagon-like peptides 1 and 2; called also large granule cells.
