round or oval bodies found in the reticuloendothelial cells , especially those of the spleen and liver, in kala-azar ; they are nonflagellate intracellular forms of Leishmania donovani . Also used to designate similar forms of Leishmania tropica found in macrophages in lesions of cutaneous leishmaniasis .
