Oculocephalic reflex

with the eyelids held open, abrupt passive rotation of the neck results in contralateral conjugate deviation of the eyes, whereas abrupt flexion of the neck results in conjugate upward deviation; in both instances, the eyes rapidly return to mid position (primary position), regardless of whether the head remains rotated or flexed.
