Round ligament of uterus

[TA] a fibromuscular band that is attached to the uterus on either side in front of and below the opening of the uterine tube; it passes through the inguinal canal to the labium majus; corresponds to the spermatic cord of the male in that it passes through the inguinal canal and gains similar coverings but is not homologous, being a homologue of the gubernaculum testis. SYN: ligamentum teres uteri [TA], Hunter ligament.
