Selective plane illumination microscopy

a fast, optically stable modification of confocal microscopy in which, instead of using a single point light source that is scanned over the specimen, a single plane of light source is used. This process provides faster image acquisition and clear three-dimensional reconstruction of objects larger than those usable for confocal microscopy.
