(for macroglobulinemia) a simple screening test performed by adding a drop of serum to 10 to 100 mL of cold distilled water; a positive reaction is indicated by the formation of a heaving cloud of precipitate at the bottom of the container. It is not diagnostic, because it may be positive in other conditions, as in rheumatoid arthritis.
