An inherited condition where polyps develop in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. The polyps are initially benign but may become malignant if untreated. The attenuated form of the condition is characterized by later onset of polyp growth as well as later onset of colorectal cancer. See also Attenuated familial polyposis
