Aflatoxin

Aflatoxins are potent toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, immunosuppressive substances that can be found on poorly stored grains and nuts. They are produced as secondary metabolites by certain types of molds (Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus). Food contaminated with aflatoxins can affect both humans and animals and lead to liver cancer.
