A rare brain disease involving destruction of blood vessel walls, hemorrhages and swelling in the brain. The disease may be associated with a virus or vaccination. The disease can progress rapidly and death is common but treatment can result in complete recovery in some cases. See also Acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis
