Anoplocephala perfoliata

a species of tapeworm that infests horses, donkeys, mules, and zebras; causes ileocecal colic and diarrhea in horses; sometimes significant gut wall ulceration occurs. False-negative result for eggs is common in fecal analysis, so ELISA often used to confirm diagnosis. Cysticercoid larvae are found in arthropods. SYN: Taenia equina, Taenia quadrilobata.
