Damage to a part of the brain (left parietal lobe) resulting in the loss of ability to read (alexia), comprehend language (sensory aphasia) and inability to carry out previously learned purposeful movements (apraxia). The damage may be caused by such things as stroke, trauma and cancer. The type and severity of symptoms are determined by the exact location and extent of damage to the brain.
