Arachnoid barrier cell layer

the part of the arachnoid mater located immediately internal to the dura mater (dural border cell layer); characterized by flattened ovoid cells with prominent nuclei, absence of extracellular spaces and collage, and numerous tight (occluding) junctions. SYN: barrier cell layer of arachnoid mater.
