CATCH 22 (medical condition)

A term used to describe a group of disorders resulting from a deletion on chromosome 22q11 and involving heart and face abnormalities, T cell deficit due to an underdeveloped thymus, cleft palate, low blood calcium due to hypothyroidism. This term tends to include disorders such as Shprintzen syndrome, velocardiofacial syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome and Takao syndrome. See also CATCH 22
