Central sleep apnoea (medical condition)

Cessation of breathing during sleep due to abnormal function of the part of the brain involved with breathing control. Patients go through a cycle involving rapid breathing, slowing of breathing and then cessation of breathing. The cycle usually lasts for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. See also Central sleep apnea
