Flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD)

a condensation product of riboflavin and adenosine 5'-diphosphate; the coenzyme of various aerobic dehydrogenases, e.g., d-amino-acid oxidase and aldehyde dehydrogenase; strictly speaking, FAD is not a dinucleotide because it contains a sugar alcohol; the coenzyme is reversibly reduced to FADH2.
