A Foreseeable emergency is one involving an incident such as the rupture of a chemical drum, the sudden uncontrolled release of gas through the failure of a high-pressure line, release of flammable liquids through failure of a pump, or other situation in which a mechanical failure might lead to the uncontrolled release of a potentially dangerous amount of a chemical into the environment or workplace.
