Gitter cell

Although in German spelling Gitter, like all nouns, begins with a capital letter, the derived English word is spelled with a small g. A lipid-laden microglial phagocyte commonly seen at the edge of healing brain infarcts, a result of cellular phagocytosis of lipid from necrotic or degenerating brain cells.
