Instrumental activities of daily living scale

a measurement of more complex and demanding activities of daily living required for more independent living. IADLs include using the telephone, traveling, shopping, preparing meals, doing housework, taking medications properly, and managing money. Knowledge provided by this scale of patient's functional ability to perform various tasks becomes an indicator of what services might be required.
