Layers of dentate gyrus

[TA] from the surface of the dentate gyrus, these layers are: the molecular layer [TA] (stratum moleculare [TA]), which contains dendrites of granular cells and some incoming axons from the perforant pathway, the granular layer [TA] (stratum granulare [TA]), which contains the layer of small granular cells, and the multiform layer [TA] (stratum multiforme [TA]), also sometimes called the polymorphic layer, which contains axons of granular cells and some afferent axons entering via the fornix.
