Manufactured Fuel Gases

A mixture of gases usually composed of various proportions of some of the following: (1) coal gas — formed by distillation or cracking of bituminous coal, (2) coke-oven gas — produced in a similar manner as a by-product in the manufacture of coke, (3) carbureted water gas — formed by flowing steam through incandescent carbon, (4) oil gas — made by “cracking” petroleum oils.
