Möbius syndrome

(mer´be-oos) a hereditary defect of the motor nuclei of cranial nerves, which causes bilateral facial paralysis in various combinations, such as paralysis of the abductors of the eye; persons with this syndrome cannot smile. Anomalies of the limbs are often present, such as missing or webbed fingers.
