Neuropathy, hereditary motor and sensory, Russe type (medical condition)

CMT is an inherited neurological disease characterized by the gradual degeneration of nerves which starts in the hands and feet and results in progressive numbness, muscle weakness and loss of function. Type 4G has an autosomal recessive form of inheritance and is a severe form of the disease. It involves a defect on Chromosome 10. See also Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Type 4G
