R protein

any of a group of similar proteins, so named for their rapid electrophoretic mobility relative to intrinsic factor , that avidly bind ingested or circulating cobalamins or analogues and travel with them to the duodenum , where proteolytic digestion frees the vitamin to bind intrinsic factor . Called also cobalophilin and haptocorrin.
