Tropic pyomyositis

a disease observed in many tropic regions marked by swelling and pain in an extremity, fever of a remittent or intermittent type, and one or more abscesses in the large muscles or the extremities (may result in death from sepsis); causative organisms are Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, but the disease may be associated with parasitic infections or HIV. SYN: bungpagga, lambo lambo, myositis purulenta tropica, tropic myositis.
