DF: A highly conserved, multicomponent secretion system found in many Gram-negative bacteria thatare plant and animal pathogens. This systemtransports effector molecules directly from the cytoplasm to the cell surface when the pathogencomes in close contact with the host cell. It is evolutionarily related to the bacterial flagellum.
