'Chernobyl Forum' is the name of a group of UN agencies, founded by the IAEA (the International Atomic Energy Agency), that is working to give people in the villages affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident greater certainty, by issuing factual, authoritative statements on the health effects caused by radiation exposure from the reactor explosion and its environmental consequences. The UN organizations involved in the Forum include: * the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) * the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) * the OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) * the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) * the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) * the UNSCEAR (United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation) * the WHO (World Health Organization) * the World Bank. The Forum also comprises the governments of Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine.
