A rare condition involving enlargement of the salivary and tear-producing glands which results from any of a number of diseases such as leukemia, syphilis and tuberculosis. If the enlargement occurs on its own and not as a result of another condition, it is called Mikulicz disease. See also Mikulicz syndrome
