Microphthalmia, syndromic 10 (medical condition)

A rare syndrome characterized by small eyes and degeneration of brain tissue which causes various abnormalities such as mental retardation. Usually the infant is relatively normal for a number of months after birth followed by rapid loss of previous acquired skills due to degeneration of the white matter of the brain.
