Tissue injury can result from exposure to radiation. The radiation dose, rate of dosing and tissues irradiated will determine the severity and type of symptoms. The effects may be chronic, delayed or acute. Hematopoietic syndrome involves exposure of the whole body to radiation of 200-1,000 rads.
