Rathke's pouch tumor

Craniopharyngiomas (WHO grade I) are benign, partly cystic, epithelial tumors of the sellar region, presumably derived from Rathke pouch epithelium. They affect mainly children and young adults. There are two clinicopathological forms: Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma and Papillary Craniopharyngioma. Recent studies indicate that the age distribution and, to some extent, prognosis are different between these two variants. (Adapted from WHO.)
